REMEMBERING NORMANDY
On June 9, 1944, Bill Hochman was an American sailor on board US LST376, part of the D-Day operation. His boat was sunk by a German E-boat. Bill was rescued from the frigid English Channel by a British destroyer. Thirty-three years later Bill was in London and met Colin McMillan, the British officer who literally pulled Bill out of the water, and they became lifelong friends.
In 1989, Bill recorded a conversation with Colin, which became the basis for his short film Remembering Normandy, a reflection on war made to honor those whose lives were lost. Rosalia Films was engaged in 2013 to help with the revision for the purpose of achieving wider attention. The film had its public television premiere on St Louis’s NineNetwork on November 9, 2015.
